The Dancing With The Stars results are in and I have to admit, I didn’t see that one coming. David Hasselhoff was the first person voted out of Dancing With the Stars Season 11 last night on ABC.

Monday night’s Dancing With the Stars premiere saw some dancers perform well, some do average and some do badly. My prediction was that David Hasselhoff, Margaret Cho, The Situation and Michael Bolton would be among the bottom four for the first week of this 2010 DWTS competition. I was correct on three of them, but they were joined by a big surprise, Kyle Massey. When the votes were tabulated and the final score that includes the judge’s scores and America’s votes were submitted the bottom two scores belonged to David Hasselhoff and Kyle Massey. The Hoff got the boot and Massey lives on to dance another day.

DWTS has never been short of controversy, but the season has been rife with it already. There is the controversy surrounding Bristol Palin being on the cast when she really hasn’t done anything but be the daughter of a famous politician. There was more Bristol controversy over what she would wear and whether or not her mom (Sarah Palin) would attend the live show. With the addition of Kyle Massey to the bottom two the controversy continues.

I had assumed that Massey might have some trouble. Younger tween viewers who may not be frequent viewers of Dancing With the Stars mostly know him and he is the youngest overall dancer. He is known mostly as a funny guy and a sometimes rapper, but he shed all those monikers on Monday night and took the dance floor by storm. His performance rocked the crowed and electrified the judges. He received one of the highest scores of the night and endless praise. Apparently, America wasn’t impressed. America preferred Margaret Cho’s comic take on the dance to Massey’s energetic and high voltage performance.

So week one of Dancing With The Stars Season 11 has seen controversy and the first elimination. I assumed David Hasselhoff would have enough love out there to survive the first week, but maybe America is just tired of The Hoff. While they may have survived round one, the writing was on the wall for The Situation and Margaret Cho; the two better improve or their dance cards will be pulled soon.

Watch Dancing With The Stars Round 2 when it returns next Monday night at 8|7c on ABC.
