Glee Season 2 Premiere Recap, bring on the Beiste for Glee’s brand new season on FOX.

Last night marked the much-anticipated return of Glee. That sound you are hearing is Gleeks everywhere rejoicing as the Glee Season 2 premiere showed that it hasn’t lost the charm, fun and swagger that made it one of the surprise breakout hits of last year.

Right out the gate we find out what the Glee clubbers did during their summer. Among the fun activities we find out are: Puck (Mark Salling) got a vasectomy, Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith) have been dating all summer and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) and Mike Chang (Harry Shum Jr.) are now an item since their time together at “Asian camp.”

Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) realizes they are going to need new members for Glee Season 2 if they are ever to beat Vocal Adrenaline, but he is unsure how to get people to audition since nobody is signing up. Sue (Jane Lynch), on the other hand, has run a very successful, if not evil campaign that is working very well.  Standing in both of their way is The Beiste (Dot Jones), the new and very intimidating female football coach who calls herself The Panther. She is cutting budget from Will and Sue’s budgets to help make the football team a winner and it doesn’t take long before she is facing off with Sue. Sue convinces Will that they need to team up and take her out if they are to save their budgets for the rest of the Glee season.

The new guy at school is Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet). When Finn hears him singing in the shower, he invites him to tryout for Glee club. Sam does a respectable version of Travie McCoy’sBillionaire.” Meanwhile Rachel gets a new exchange student named Sunshine, Finn gets kicked off the football team and decides to try out for Cheerios.

There are some great songs including Jay-Z’sEmpire State of Mind”, Poison’sEvery Rose Has It’s Thorn” and a battle duet of Lady Gaga’sTelephone.

As the episode comes to an end we find our beloved Glee kids pretty much back where they started. They are still social outcasts, they are losing their money, have no new members and Sue is still out to destroy them. It may seem bleak, but I would guess they have a few tricks up their sleeves.

Tune in for more Glee Season 2 as it returns next Tuesday night at 8|7c on FOX.
