Sports Robot Round Up (May 5, 2011)
Today, as with every day there is a ton of sports news around the web. The goal of our Sports Robot Round Up is to cover all of the hot topics for all of you avid sports fans. Today we will cover the following NBA news: Ron Artest’s ejection, Lakers loss to the Mavericks, Derrick Rose (MVP) carrying the Bulls to a win over the Hawks and Bill Russell gets a statue in Boston. In MLB news we have Shin-Soo Choo’s DUI, Tim Hudson’s shutout and Andre Ethier suffers a sore elbow!
Moving right into the NHL news, the Washington Capitals got swept in the second round of the playoffs and the Flyers are one loss away from being swept. As the NFL lockout continues, more and more players are beginning to resent Roger Goodell. Let’s end with NCAA news as Darius Morris will enter the NBA draft and a UM player has been arrested for rape…uh oh!

Ron Artest was ejected with seconds left in the game for eye raking the Mavericks’ JJ Barea.
Also, the Lakers are now down 2 games to the Mavericks after losing 93-81 as the series heads to Dallas (Dallas News).
After being presented with the NBA MVP Award, Derrick Rose helped Chicago even the series 1-1 as the Bulls beat the Hawks 86-73 (Chicago Tribune).
Bill Russell, the NBA’s greatest champion, will finally have a statue in Boston (Boston.com)

Tim Hudson did his best Francisco Liriano impression by tossing a 1 hit complete game shutout against the Brew Crew in the 2nd game of a doubleheader to complete the sweep (AJC).
The game didn’t end until 2:35 AM EST and lasted 5 hours thanks to a 2 1/2 hour rain delay but the Angels got the win over the Red Sox in 13 innings (LA Times).
The Dodgers’ Andre Ethier didn’t get a chance to extend his 29 game hit streak on Wednesday against the Cubs because of a sore left elbow. They probably needed him as LA lost to Chicago 5-1 (LA Times)
This might come as a surprise (not really), the Washington Capitals got swept in the 2nd round of the playoffs (Washington Post). They have the one of the best players in the world and were the top seed in the East but came up short, again.
The Flyers are one loss away from being swept after giving up 2 goals in the opening minutes of Wednesday’s game versus the Bruins (Philly.com).
After losing in overtime 4-3, the Red Wings are down 3-0 to San Jose (Detroit Free Press).
It seems that more and more players are beginning to resent Commissioner Roger Goodell (Yahoo).
Darius Morris has declared for the NBA draft and made it official by hiring an agent (UM Hoops).
A University of Miami football player has been arrested and charged with rape. This is the second arrest since new coach Al Golden has been at the helm (PBP).
