American Idol 2011: Can Lauren Alaina Win?
Lauren Alaina seems to be the one girl on American Idol this season that has been unscathed by the anti-female voting. She has not taken a trip to the bottom three and seems like she is just moving along, business as usual. Through the process the judges and mentor Jimmy Iovine have helped pull her out of her shell. She has always been comfortable on stage, but she seems even more so in the last few weeks. When you watch her sing it is easy to forget that the all that voice and all that poise comes in the form of a 16 year old girl.
This week’s American Idol guest mentor is Sheryl Crow. I think she is the perfect mentor for Lauren Alaina because hers is the kind of career I could see Lauren trying to emulate. If there is any problem with Lauren it is that her youth doesn’t afford her the life experience to full submerse herself in some songs. It’s hard to sing about some things and be emotional about them when you have never experienced it. That, however, is just a minor nick in her armor and the rest of the package more than makes up for it. This week all the contestants will have to sing two songs. That won’t be easy, but if she does a great job she could solidify her spot in the Top 3.
Tune in tonight at 8PM on Fox to see the Top 5 perform on American Idol and find out how Lauren Alaina does.
