American Idol 2011 Top 5 Song List Spoilers
It is a big week on American Idol this week as the Top 5 singers will now have to tackle two songs tonight. The theme is “Now and Then” which will have the singers do a song that is from the 1960’s and a current song. That leaves a lot of options out there to choose from. To help them with their selections Sheryl Crow will be stopping by to mentor alongside Jimmy Iovine.
There are a lot of options here for the American Idol Top 5 to choose from, but here are my choices that I would love to hear them sing. Remember, the Idol producers still do not allow audience members inside of the auditions so these song list spoilers are my predictions.
Lauren Alaina: With her full voice and country twang I think she should do something country and fun for her current song. If she did something like “The House That Built Me” By Miranda Lambert for her current song it would be a good mix. When it comes to her song from the 1960’s she could to “Proud Mary” By CCR.
James Durbin: So far he has proven that he can do just about anything so the world is his this week. For his Now song I would like to see him do “Sober” by Pink. For his Then song he should go big and do The Rolling Stones “Paint it Black.”
Scotty McCreery: It could be a very good week on American Idol for Scotty as he gets to select something he can really put his mark on. For his Now song I’d like to see him do “Live A Little” by Kenny Chesney. A Then song that I think would rock for him is Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come.” It would be a bold move, Cooke is a legend, but Scotty could flip it and make it something special.
Haley Reinhart: With her gravelly voice that is sweet when needed and powerful when needed Haley could do just about anything she wanted. For her Now song I would like to see her do “What The Hell” from Avril Lavigne; it would be fun an unexpected. A good, powerful Then song would be “Tracks of My Tears” by the Miracles.
Jacob Lusk: Jacob needs to do something big this week or he will be in serious danger of going home. He might as well go big. As a Now song he should do Cee Lo Greens “Forget You” which is, of course the clean version of “Fuck You.” For his Then song he could do Otis Reddings “Dock of the Bay.”
These are my choices for what the Top 5 American Idol contestants should sing tonight. Tune in tonight at 8PM on Fox to see what they end up singing and find out what advice Sheryl Crow gives them.
