Dancing With The Stars 2011 – The Rise of Chelsea Kane and Romeo
After the announcement of the cast for this season of Dancing with the Stars I reacted like most people did. I knew some of the names, but didn’t recognize others. Two that I didn’t recognize were Romeo and Chelsea Kane. Since that time these two have risen through the ranks and are now poised to make a run at winning the competition.
Once I realized Romeo was the same guy that used to be rapper Lil Romeo I knew who he was. When it came to Chelsea Kane I had no idea. I don’t have kids and I don’t watch the Disney Channel so she was completely off my radar. That all changed during Week 3 of DWTS. Chelsea hit the floor in a barely there, blinged out gold outfit that showed off her amazing body. Her dance was sexy, fun and on point and her 23 points tied her for second. She hasn’t looked back since. With that dance Chelsea announced that she was this season’s sexy girl and that she was going to be very hard to beat.
Romeo struggled badly at first; however, he has improved slowly but surely each week. All his hard work culminated last week with a waltz that got this season’s first 10 and put him tied for first on the leaderboard. He seems focused and says week in and week out that he wants to win. He has the physical ability to do it and seems to be buying into his partners teachings. Most importantly he seems to have finally put aside his need to be cool and is just trying to do well and have fun.
Romeo’s score of 10 on his waltz was not the only 10 of the 2011 Dancing With The Stars season for long. The very next dance got a 10 as well. That dancers name? Chelsea Kane.
At this point in the DWTS competition we are seeing separation where the good dancers are starting to pull away from the average dancers. While they both took different paths, Chelsea Kane and Romeo are now at the top of the pack with Hines Ward and have to both be considered favorites to win the competition. The question is will they be able to hold on to these spots now that they have risen up and grabbed them, or will they crash and burn, fading away as quickly as they exploded onto the scene? I have a little more faith in Chelsea than I do Romeo, but I think both have come so far that the only thing that can stop them from making the final three is their own desire.
Tune in tonight at 8PM on ABC for Dancing with the Stars and see if Chelsea Kane and Romeo continue their climb to the top.
