American Idol 2011: Casey Abrams Voted Off, Again!
Last night the inevitable finally happened. American Idol 2011 viewers cast their votes and told the world that they don’t like fun when they voted Casey Abrams off for the second and final time. This time there was no judges save available to keep him around or any last minute change in the rules; Casey took a bow and will now wait in the wings while we see the American Idol Top 5 battle it out.
For those who haven’t been paying close attention to American Idol this season, Casey Abrams provided one of the biggest shocks and most dramatic moments of Season 10 earlier when he was one of the first of the Top 13 voted out. It was a total shock because the judges heaped praise on him week after week and he always took chances and showed off his real talent. After being voted off Casey started singing for his life in a farewell song, but was cut short by the judges and told that they were using their one save for the season on him. He was so shocked he actually fell down on the stage. It was heavy drama and it lit a fire under him.
There would be no save for Casey Abrams last night. With only six people left in the competition realistically anyone was fair game and could have been voted out, but I think the consensus was that Jacob Lusk would be the one to go. When the bottom three consisted of Jacob, Scotty McCreery and Casey Abrams most were all but certain that it was Jacob’s time. But he survived to sing another week as Casey was announced the newest cast off of American Idol.
Haley Reinhart seemed to take his being voted off the worst as she wiped tears away and was consoled by Lauren Alaina. Haley and Casey are rumored to be involved in a relationship, but both are being very coy about it. Reports from the live show are that after Casey sang his final farewell song and the cameras went dark the crowd chanted his name as the judges took turns hugging him and giving him a pep talk. Casey then addressed the crowd with a short speech – something no other contestant has done this season.
American Idol 2011 is now down to five and while there are some of them that are very talented, none of them have the sense of mischief and fun that Casey Abrams did which will be something that will be missed the rest of this season.
