American Idol 2011: Casey Abrams, Haley Reinhart the Perfect Pair

idol haley reinhartTonight Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart should steal the show on American Idol.

This week is Carole King week on American Idol. That is an interesting choice considering how the judges are always telling the singers to sound more modern. But the judges’ advice has always been inconsistent at best which is part of its charm. In addition to solo songs the Top 6 will perform duets. I’m hoping they pair Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart together.

Haley Reinhart as spent her fair share of time in the bottom three, but the last few weeks have seen her come on strong and do very well. She seems to be finding herself and her spot in the competition and is letting it all hang out when she goes out there.  Her voice has that gravely, jazzy feel to it that might fit Carole King perfectly.

Casey Abrams is no stranger to the bottom. He actually got voted out then saved by the judges and has been on fire since then. Week in and week out he has impressed and shown that he is a real artist and musician. I would love to see him break out the upright bass and see he and Haley put together some kind of smoky jazz club kind of duet that just flipped around and reinvented the song they do.

We can find out who gets paired with whom tonight at 8PM on Fox as American Idol and Carole King week gets underway.

  1. They were all really great tonite. I thought Scotty showed a dif. side as did James. I voted for Haley, Scotty, and Casey (4 times for Casey). Lauren was too safe and I don’t think Jake has the pipes of the other contestants and he may be in jeopardy this week. This is a tough year, as there are so many great singers!!!

  2. Lauren and Scotty are my favorites!! James has been great as well. Jake, I think is going home tonight. I’m not impressed with his voice anymore, just annoyed.
Haley and Casey are good singers, but forgettable; I had to replay their last nights performance in order to remember what they sang.
