American Idol Spoilers: Carole King Duet Predictions
This week could turn out to be one of the strangest, most awkward weeks on this season of American Idol, or it could turn out to have some really great moments in it. After last week where the contestants chose songs from the 21st century, the producers are taking the show back in time as this week they do the songs of Carole King. The way I understand it each singer will do a solo song then they will pair up and do duets. That is a lot of Carole King for one show. It could be a train wreck.
As per normal the American Idol 2011 producers are keeping things a secret so we can only guess as to who is singing what song. If it were up to me here is how I would like to see it breakdown:
Haley Reinhart has been doing well the last few weeks. She could really shine this week with a strong version of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”
Lauren Alaina continues to impress week after week. I would like to see her loosen up a little have some fun with the upbeat “One Fine Day.”
Jacob Lusk could actually come out of this week looking good. He has never seen a ballad he didn’t love to over sing which means he could do a good version of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.”
Casey Abrams is one of the few people left on American Idol I truly look forward to each week. He is chameleon of styles and will need that this week. I think he could take “Jazzman” and put an interesting spin on it.
James Durbin might be one of the contestants who struggle this week. Carole King is about as far from heavy metal as you get. Still, he could slow it down and put a rock/ballad spin on “So Far Away” and come up with something special.
Scotty McCreery might be another who could struggle this week. However, Carole King’s songs might still lend themselves to a country vibe that he could tap into. He could pull of a tight version “It’s Too Late” and stun the crowd.
These are my picks for what I would have the top 6 sing if it were left up to me. Tune in tonight at 8PM on Fox to see them all sing solo and do duets in a music packed episode of American Idol.
