American Idol Top 7: Stefano Langone, Jacob Lusk Voted Off

jacob lusk idol 2011Stefano Langone and Jacob Lusk delivered less than stellar performances on American Idol last night and could be voted off tonight.

Last night was an interesting, if not somewhat odd night on American Idol. The Top 7 got to pick songs from the 21st century which left them a lot to choose from. As the night progressed we saw Steven Tyler drop the F-Bomb, Casey Abrams kissed Jennifer Lopez and made her blush and after weeks of doing nothing but heap praise on all the contestants the judges got critical. Through all of this there were a few singers that just didn’t shine like the rest. (Stefano Langone, Jacob Lusk)

Stefano Langone had another week where he didn’t sing very well, but had all the girls screaming. Even before he sang Jimmy Iovine told him he needed to sell the sex appeal more. Stefano took that to heart and wore a very tight outfit as he moved around the stage dancing like a male stripper during his version of NeYo’s “Closer.” His voice wasn’t very good and the whole thing was kind of off and creepy. He seems to dodge the bullet every week so I won’t be shocked if Stefano Langone ends up in the bottom three only to survive again.

Jacob Lusk just fell apart on stage. At first it wasn’t his fault. Something happened to the music track and he had to catch back up to it. That could throw anyone off so I give him credit for sticking with it. Where it went wrong is after that. I understand that he has an emotional connection to the song he chose (Luther Vandross’s “Dance with my Father”) and he had a lot to live up to with the judges constantly comparing him to Luther. He seemed to have trouble keeping his composure, he did his scale crawling, and blubbering act to its worst and the whole thing was just a hot mess. It just wasn’t Jacob Lusk’s week.

Tonight at 8PM on FOX is the results show. I won’t be at all shocked to see these two in the bottom three and while I think Stefano Langone will wriggle off the hook once again it may be Jacob Lusk’s last stand.
