haley reinhart adeleLet’s recap last night’s Top 7 performances on American Idol 2011.

Haley Reinhart definitely stole the show last night with her performance of “Rolling In The Deep” by Adele. In case you missed American Idol’s Top 7 performance show, the contestants were tasked to perform songs of the 21st Century. Let me tell you, the competition is heating up as the Idol hopefuls tore up the stage last night with amazing performances; well, at least most of them delivered. What did the American Idol final 7 sing? Who shined and who failed?

With only seven contestants left on American Idol, the competition is definitely getting down to the wire. Last night the Idol hopefuls were tasked with songs of the 21st century and here is what they sang and how well they did (ratings based from 1-10 with 10 being the highest:

Scotty McCreery – “Swingin’” by LeAnn Rimes – I absolutely love Scotty and while he sounded amazing last night, it was kind of slow for me. He definitely didn’t screw it up but I don’t think he picked the right song. 7/10

James Durbin – “Uprising” by Muse – James’ performance last night on American Idol started off a little slow but amidst the live marching band and crazy ass Matrix outfit, he did the song justice and delivered a pretty damn good performance, sans screaming. 6/10

Haley Reinhart – “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele – I was extremely scared for Haley when I found out she’d be singing Adele. Much to my surprise, she freaking killed the performance and it was the best of the night by far. I know, she can’t do justice to the original but she did a damn god job making it her own. Go Haley Reinhart! 9/10

Jacob Lusk – “Dance With My Father” by Luther Vandross – No way, another ballad? Jacob’s arrogance and attitude is getting real old. The fake tears during rehearsal were pretty ridiculous and as for his performance it was the same old Jacob. Oh, I forgot to mention Jacob Lusk said he “messed up” because the track in his ear had problems; get over yourself fool! Being honest, he should be singing gospel in a church, not on the radio. 5/10

Casey Abrams – “Harder To Breathe” by Maroon 5 – I am a big fan of Casey and have been all season. Ever since the American Idol judges saved him, he has been out to prove he belongs in the competition. I really enjoyed Casey Abrams’ take on Maroon 5, despite his awkward stage presence. He definitely has my vote as he is such a versatile musician with raw talent. 8/10

Stefano Langone – “Closer” by Ne-Yo – [Begin Rant Here] I hate Stefano and there is no reason this reject should still be on the show. The performance was awful, his dance moves were ridiculous and he looked like a damn Chippendale dancer. Hopefully Stefano Langone is sent home tonight. 0/10 (I don’t support him at all)

Lauren Alaina – “Born To Fly” by Sara Evans – Lauren is definitely a cutie and country music is where she will wind up. As far as last night’s performance on American Idol, it definitely wasn’t her best. Sure, it was fun and she sang well but she has so much more potential and being this late in the competition, she needs to show it if she wants to win! 7/10

There you have it folks, those are my performance ratings from last night’s American Idol top 7 performances. I am pretty sure Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone will be in the bottom two tonight. Make sure you tune in tonight at 8|7c to see who America voted off and also to watch Katy Perry and David Cook perform live!
