NBA Playoffs 2011: Round One Schedule & Analysis
NBA Playoffs 2011 begin tomorrow (April 16, 2011) and we have the game schedule, odds and insight on all of the matchups.
The NBA Playoffs 2011 get underway tomorrow (April 16, 2011) and there are some very intriguing teams and hopeful matchups. Of course some of the NBA players (Kobe Bryant, LeBron James) are getting some unnecessary attention going into the first round of playoff games tomorrow.
Almost overnight LeBron James went from being one of the most beloved players in the NBA to being a villain and his team, the Miami Heat, became public enemy #1 for any basketball fan outside of southern Florida. They enter the playoffs with a huge target on their chest. The questions all season long were about how dominant the Heat would be and how many wins they would have. The season was up and down for them. At times they looked brilliant and nearly unbeatable, but at other times they just couldn’t pull it together. Now they have the chance to make good on all the hype.
The Miami Heat isn’t the only team with hype going into the 2011 NBA Playoffs. The Chicago Bulls come into the playoffs with the best record in the league and Derek Rose as the likely MVP. They are young, talented and hungry. Don’t sleep on the old men in Boston. They know how to play to win and have been there before. Orlando Magic went out during the offseason and filling in their roster, building the team to win in the post season and The Knicks finally return to the playoffs after years of floundering.
Out west the San Antonio Spurs ended the regular season with the better record, but all eyes are on the Los Angeles Lakers to see if they can three-peat. The Dallas Mavericks also look to prove that their trip to the finals back in 2006 was no fluke and that they can contend.
The NBA Playoffs first round matchups likely hold little chance of upsets happening, but you never know. We have Indiana Vs. Chicago, Philly Vs. Miami, Atlanta Vs. Orlando, NY Knicks Vs. Boston, Memphis Vs. San Antonio, New Orleans Vs. The Lakers, Portland Vs. Dallas and Denver Vs. Oklahoma City. If I had to pick a surprise winner out of this round I would pick The Knicks to beat Boston. In the past Boston has been pushed in the early rounds and they have some injuries. I doubt it will happen, normally in the NBA the favorites win in the first round, but you never know, we could see an upset and who better to do it than then New York Knicks after being away from the NBA Playoffs for so long.
The first round of NBA Playoff games get underway tomorrow afternoon so get comfy on your couch and get ready for some basketball.
