American Idol 2011: Scotty McCreery Keeps it Country!
Scotty McCreery kept it country last night while Casey Abrams continued to impress on American Idol.
Last night on American Idol it was music from the movies week and we saw a very eclectic mix of different types of songs. Literally everything from Jazz (Casey Abrams) to heavy metal (James Durbin) was on display. There were some who did better than others (Scotty McCreery). Here are the best singers from last night.
Scotty McCreery stuck to what he does best and did it well. His version of George Strait’s “I Cross My Heart” was heartfelt and very smooth. Scotty knows what he is good at and he sticks with it. In a funny way he shows how the American Idol judges can be so off point at times. Last night they tell him “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Yet other contestants like Pia they were telling that they want to see take a chance. They can’t seem to make up their minds. Either way, Scotty McCreery was reliable and good.
Call me crazy, but my other winner of the week was Casey Abrams. There were other good performances, but for me Casey took a wild risk and did a great job with Nat King Cole’s “Nature Boy.” He showed off that he is probably the best “artist” of the group and that he is capable of doing just about anything. It is also cool to see him back to the guy who did was his gut told him to do. Of course last time he did that he got voted out and had to be saved by the American Idol judges, but I don’t think that will happen this week. Casey Abrams put on a show and I have a feeling enough people watching will realize they saw something special there to keep him around.
