haley reinhart american idol 10Haley Reinhart and Lauren Alaina tackle the Songs from Movies theme night on American Idol.

They are the last two girls standing on American Idol. Both Haley Reinhart and Lauren Alaina must feel a little bit like they are in the crosshairs as they step out onto the stage. After last week’s surprise dismissing of Pia Toscano it is clear that no girl is safe on the show.

This week is songs from the movies week which gives them both a wide range of song choices. Both girls have kind of a rock edge to them but I think Lauren Alaina is a little more suited for a full on rock song. I would love to see her finally end the teasing and do the Aerosmith song “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.” You know eventually someone is going to do an Aerosmith song and now that it seems pretty clear that girls are an endangered species on the show it might as well be her that does it. That song helped her get on the show; if she does a great job with it then it could help keep her on the show.

Haley Reinhart has gone through a transformation of sorts over the last few weeks. Early on she was perpetually in the bottom three and it seemed like just a matter of time before she was voted out. The last few weeks have seen her come into her own and realize her potential. I don’t know how long she can hold out, but she has asserted herself as someone who will not being going away quietly in the night. I’d like to see her sing “Born to be Wild” from the iconic movie Easy Rider tonight. I think it would fit her style and give her a chance to loosen up and have a good time.

Tune in tonight at 8PM on FOX to see all of the contestants sings live on American Idol and find out if Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart can continue to perform well.
