Russell Brand’s ‘Hop’ & ‘Arthur’ Top Box Office Sales
Hop and Arthur dominate box office sales.
Ok, so I was completely wrong in my box office pick for the past weekend. (Russell Brand’s Hop & Arthur won, Your Highness did not!) I’ll admit it. To make things even worse, I didn’t even go to the movies myself this weekend! Oh the shame.
This past weekend, there were four films that opened and none of them came in the top spot for sales. It was the animated movie that stars Russell Brand, Hop, which came in first place with $21,696,000.00 in top revenue for weekend sales. This is the second week the movie has been out, as well as in first place.
Following Hop was the remake of the 1980 classic Arthur. The movie originally made famous and a classic by Dudley Moore as the title character, this time around, Russell Brand plays the wealthy drunk gambling with his inheritance because of the girl he loves. Arthur (2011) brought in $12,605,000.00 over its debut weekend, and came in second place in the box office ratings.
Hanna came in third with $12,323,000.00. Hanna is an action adventure movie about a 16-year-old who is trained by her father to be an assassin. Soul Surfer made its debut this weekend and came in 4th place with $11,100,000.00. And in 5th place, we saw the comedy Your Highness starring Danny McBride, James Franco, and Natalie Portman. Your Highness took the weekend with $9,520,000.00. I really thought this movie would have done better. Hey look if I would have gone to the movies this weekend that would have been my pick! McBride and Franco are tops in my book!
