30 Rock Cancelled; The Office Next?
30 Rock has been cancelled; The Office to follow suit?
Say it isn’t so. 30 Rock, ending next year? Last night, it was announced that the hit NBC show will be doing their final season this fall and will end the Emmy winning show in 2012. I guess Alec Baldwin can stop all of his threats to quit showbiz now! I’m sure we’ll see him around Saturday Night Live more now. Seems as though Alec made the announcement to New York magazine while attending their National Dance Institute’s annual fundraising gala.
This might come as a surprise however to NBC and the rest of the cast of 30 Rock. Tina Fey’s people, NBC, no one else actually are confirming the announcement. Sources say that there have been no conversations whatsoever about the show ending in 2012. Baldwin added that their contracts expire in 2012 and that Tina Fey will be moving on to bigger and better projects such as directing films and writing.
If this is true, NBC better step up to the plate. They need to find a great replacement for Steve Carell on The Office in order to continue the show’s success after his departure. Will Ferrell has signed on to do 4 episodes at the end of this season. Ricky Gervais is set to appear on the final episode as well as Saturday Night Live alum, Will Arnett. Community, staring Joe McHale, can’t carry all of this pressure on their shoulders. NBC needs some more hit comedies. They need them now; even more so if 30 Rock is no more.
