DWTS 2011: Wendy Williams Voted Off?
My three least favorite routines from week 3 of DWTS.
It was personal stories week on DWTS where the dancers all chose a song that had personal meaning for them. There were some dancers who really brought their emotion and story to life (Petra Nemcova) and others that didn’t do as well at it. Here are my picks for the bottom three dancers (Wendy Williams, Kirstie Alley, Romeo) from this week.
Wendy Williams danced to “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” which symbolized the struggle she went through to be a success on the radio. The song was an odd one to dance to and her cha-cha seemed like it was in slow motion. The judges were not impressed and she got a 15.
Romeo took a big step forward last week and seemed poised to continue to improve. He chose “I’ll Be There” as his song and dedicated his dance to his two cousins who he was very close to that both died at a young age –one of which was murdered. During DWTS rehearsals he struggled with his dancing shoes and his rumba seemed a little off. This week he took a step back with a 20.
My last choice for the bottom three is Kirstie Alley. Her song “Over the Rainbow” told the emotional tale of how in one 72 hour period her mother died, her father nearly died and she got her first film role. The dance had problems from the start when her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s leg collapsed as he dragged her across the floor. This sent them both tumbling to the ground. Maks was clearly in pain but gutted it out and got them back dancing. The dance was slow and emotional, but to me Kirstie mostly stood around and moved her hips while Maks danced around her. What annoyed me the most was her reaction after the dance. After the judges score, a 21, Maks was clearly in pain and left the area to go get medical help. You can see other members of the cast showing concern as they jumped off the bench in the back ground to see if he is okay and all the while Kirstie Alley stands there mugging for the camera smiling and waving and telling people to vote for her. In my eyes she came off pretty badly.
These were my bottom three for week 3 of Dancing with the Stars. I think Wendy Williams is probably in the most danger of being sent home, but you never know. You will have to tune in tonight at 9PM on ABC to find out.
