kansas city chiefs san diego chargers espnOdds have the San Diego Chargers favored to win over the Kansas City Chiefs in tonight’s Monday Night Football match up on ESPN.

The odds strongly favor the San Diego Chargers to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in tonight’s second game of the Monday Night Football double header on ESPN. Since the Oakland Raiders and the Denver Broncos both lost yesterday, the winner of tonight’s Chargers Vs. Chiefs match-up will be the only team in the AFC West with a win. The Chargers come into tonight’s game as 4 point favorites, but with an over/under of 45.5 this one could turn into a shootout.

The San Diego Chargers have been the Rodney Dangerfield of the NFL the last few years. They have won a lot of games and gone deep into the playoffs, yet get no respect. This year they look to finally get over that hump and prove the naysayers wrong. While the Chargers are looking to set the pace and win the division once again, the Kansas City Chiefs have quietly gotten a lot better over the last season. Even though they ended the year with a record of 4-12, the Chiefs found themselves improving as Quarterback Matt Cassel got more and more comfortable with the offense and running back Jamal Charles emerged as a solid number one running back. After acquiring receiver Chris Chambers in the middle of last season and running back Thomas Jones in the off-season, the Chiefs now feel they have an offense in place that can keep them in games. The question is: can the defense hold opponents down? Last season opponents scored more than 30 points on the Chief defense in six games.

Tonight’s game is the first time in a long time that the San Diego Chargers will not have Ladainian Tomlinson in their backfield. After releasing him during the off-season he has signed with the  New York Jets. This leaves the running duties to Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles. They will also be without receiver Vincent Jackson who is serving six games in suspension. He will be suspended for three games for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy and another three games for being placed on the Chargers’ roster-exempt list on September 4. He is unhappy with his role on the team and could be traded before his suspensions are served, but that doesn’t fill the void left by him in tonight’s lineup.

For a team that has the credentials that the Chargers have earned in the last few seasons, they are not heavy favorites. Kansas City is a very difficult place to play at and the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to make a statement. Don’t be surprised if the Kansas City Chiefs beat the odds and steal a win here over the San Diego Chargers.

Here’s the Odds for tonight’s Chiefs Vs. Chargers from Bet Us:
San Diego Chargers -4 (-110), Over 45.5 (-110) more.
Kansas City Chiefs +4 (-110), Under 45.5 (-110) more.

Watch tonight as the San Diego Chargers take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the second game of the NFL Monday Night Football doubleheader at 10:15pm ET on ESPN.
