NCAA Championship Game: Butler Bull “Under” Dogs
Butler seems to be the underdog in tonight’s NCAA Championship game.
The Butler Bulldogs have been described as underdogs for so long, that the term no longer seems applicable as the 2011 NCAA Championship Game Time [9:23pm EST tip off] is upon us. And while the Bulldogs lack the money and recruiting power that teams like UConn have, the Butler Bulldogs have managed to make it to the title game for the second straight year in a row.
What are the chances of that happening? Does it matter? The Butler Bulldogs have proven themselves a force to be reckoned with, and they have truly surpassed many expectations and broken the wallets of sceptical gamblers.
In forward Matt Howard’s words, “I don’t know if it’s selfish or not, but we want to do this for ourselves…we don’t look at it as if we’re doing this for somebody else or to disable some theory.” For the first time in NCAA history, Butler has beat No. 1 and No. 2 seed picks two years in a row. That says something.
So if you think that the Butler Bulldogs got to this point by mere chance, I seriously urge you to re-examine your mindset; it seems pretty insulting to Butler to insinuate that they’ve made it to this point by chance. And whether you’re a fan or not, Butler has definitely made tonight’s NCAA National Championship game something you don’t want to miss.
