Taylor Swift “Mine” vs. Justin Bieber “Baby”
Who will win Favorite Song at the 2011 Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards?
The 2011 Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards air tonight and one of the harder categories to pin down is Favorite Song. There were so many great songs out there this year that it is very hard to pick just four to nominate. Nevertheless, the job was done and here are the nominees for Favorite Song: Justin Bieber “Baby,” Katy Perry “California Gurls,” Train “Hey Soul Sister” and Taylor Swift “Mine.”
Train had one of the biggest comebacks of the year with “Hey Soul Sister.” It was all over the radio, in TV shows and movies and featured in commercials. These guys have been around for a while and have said that this new record was likely to be their last had it not taken off, but it is a certified hit and has some big songs on it.
Seeing Katy Perry in this category is no surprise. She was nominated for Favorite Song two years ago, “California Gurls” was all over the radio and Katy’s second record is a huge hit. It also helped that this song featured a guest spot by the legendary Snoop Dogg. Her undeniable good looks and wild fashion sense make her a big favorite of teens and tweens all over.
Taylor Swift’s “Mine” was a big hit by any standard, but you might make the argument that the sheer size of her record as a whole overshadowed this song. Still Taylor is hugely popular and won this category last year so she has to be considered one of the favorites to win again.
Justin Bieber’s “Baby” is his defining song. It is the song that put him on the map and it is the song that is everywhere. With over 500 million views of the video on YouTube I think it is safe to say that it is a monster, smash it by any standard. Justin his hugely popular with the Kids Choice Awards crowd so he has to be a front runner in this category.
Since the awards all come down to the fan votes, I think that Justin Bieber will take home the Kid’s Choice Award for Favorite Song. He might lose to Taylor Swift, but I think “Baby” is such a huge song that he won’t be denied.
You can tune in tonight at 8|7c on Nickelodeon to watch it all go down and see if Justin Bieber does pull out the win for Favorite Song award.
