There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding the Detroit Tigers’ right hand pitcher, Justin Verlander, and whether his stats will improve this spring season. Verlander has expressed a lot of dedication about playing strong this season. In Verlander’s own words, “I’m going to treat it much more seriously. I’m not going to wait until I’ve had a couple of bad starts (during regular season) to try and figure out what’s wrong.”

The New York Yankees are at an advantage, in part because it is a home game. Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia has similar stats to Verlander; Sabathia boasts a CAIRO projected 3.54 ERA/3.68 FIP while Verlander has an ERA of 3.79 and 3.58 FIP.

Will the Detroit Tigers win against the odds, or will the New York Yankees prove successful? Tune in to see the Bronx game on ESPN to see!
