DWTS Week 2 Winners: Hines Ward, Ralph Macchio, Chris Jericho
The winners from week 2 of the DWTS performances.
As we roll into week 2 of Dancing with the Stars 2011 there were a lot of dancers who had plenty of room for improvement over their week 1 performances. Here are the three (Ralph Macchio, Chris Jericho, Hines Ward) I felt stood out the most and were this week’s winners.
Ralph Macchio continued to impress. The Karate Kid showed off his teenage kids and felt some of the pressure of being the front runner as he went into rehearsals this week, but once again, he delivered a high energy, impressive Jive. The judges felt he might need to tone done the energy a little to improve his form, but otherwise it was well received and he and his partner Karina Smirnoff brought in a 21 for a two week total of 45 out of a possible 60.
Hines Ward took a big step forward to announce that he was a contender for the Dancing with the Stars 2011 title. Hines surprised a lot of people last week. He is known as a hard-nosed, rough football player but his infectious smile and fun loving personality quickly won the crowd over. He and partner Kym Johnson did a very impressive quickstep that used the entire dance flood and showed off some strong moves. The judges were impressed and Hines was rewarded with a 23 which tied him for the highest score of the night and gives him a two week total of 44 out of 60.
The third winner this week was hard to choose. Kirstie Alley again impressed and Romeo improved, but I give my vote to Chris Jericho. He and his partner Cheryl Burke had trouble overcoming his big frame as they rehearsed for this week’s quickstep, but they clearly pulled it together, overcame their issues and he gave one of the better dances of the night. His score of 23 tired him for the best score of the night and was a big step up from his week 1 performance. He now has a two week total of 42 out of 60.
There were a few other standouts this week on Dancing with the Stars, but these were the three that stood out for me the most so that is why I chose them as my week 2 winners. Tune in tonight on ABC at 9PM to see the first results show of the season and find out which team will be sent home first.
