While Tom Bergeron won’t be on TV tonight hosting a Dancing with the Stars results show, he will still be on the air hosting a (Best In Film) results show of an entirely different nature. Tonight he and Cynthia McFadden host an ABC special called Best in Film: The Greatest Movies of Our Time.

The idea for the Best in Film is in an interesting one. ABC teamed up with People Magazine and came up with an online ballot that let fans vote for their favorite movies of all time in 15 different categories. Ranging from sci-fi to musicals, dramas to comedies and including categories like Best Screen Kiss, Best Chick Flick and Greatest Line it should be an interesting night of results.

The Best in Film poll was online between November of 2010 and January of 2011 and registered more than 500,000 votes.  The online ballot was put together using a mix of experts from world famous actors like Gene Hackman and Cameron Diaz to directors like Mel Brooks and Garry Marshall as well as writers, critics and producers. Each category was then narrowed down to the ten finalists and the fans voted from those finalists.

Tonight at 9PM on ABC Tom and Cynthia unveil the results. Once and for all we will find out what movie the public feels is the best movie of all time as well as the best action film, suspense film and so on.

One thing I find very interesting is that in the Best Film category there is no movie nominated that was made past 1982. So is that to say that no movie made in the last 28 years is better than those on the list? While the list is full of classics, there might be some who would argue with it. I have a feeling there is bound to be some controversy surrounding tonight’s Best In Film results.

All 15 categories will not be covered in tonight’s results. Instead we will get through 10 of them with the other five being revealed online tonight at people.com.
