Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant [UPDATE]

fukushima nuclear power plantThings are not looking good for the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant over in Japan.

The nuclear reactors at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant (Japan) are still extremely hot and the Japanese military is doing anything possible to cool off the fuel rods. This photo shows helicopters dropping water bombs on nuclear reactor #3 which is running dangerously low on water in the cooling tank.

It is said that nuclear reactor #4 at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant has NO water in its cooling tank. What happens here is the fuel-rod becomes exposed to the air and if it gets hot enough, radiation will be leaked…not good. Amidst this nuclear crisis in Japan, thousands of people are still being affected by the recent Tsunami / Earthquake. While I know the nuclear meltdown is a BIG deal, you can’t forget about all those people who were hit hard by the Tsunamil; what a mess.

Hopefully the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant crisis will be contained. If the reactors do meltdown and the fuel-rods overheat enough to leak radiation, it will get real bad over in Japan. Some fear, worst-case scenario, the radiation leaking from the nuclear reactors in Japan will make its way to California and the Western United States.
