lady gaga american idolToday we have brand new music by Lady Gaga and the American Idol alumni.

This week in new music features two fairly big releases featuring Lady Gaga and the contestants of American Idol. Of course the bigger of the bunch will be Gaga and her “Born This Way EP” but all of those die-hard Idol fans will be lining up for the 10th Anniversary album which has some amazing hits on it.

First up is Lady Gaga and her EP for “Born This Way.” Obviously “Born This Way” is not a new song, it has already destroyed the competition on iTunes and the video for the song has gotten millions of views on YouTube. This EP is the official release of the song on CD. As an extra bonus Lady Gaga has added three new versions of the song to this EP. These versions are all remixes by well-known producers/DJ’s. This means in addition to the original version of “Born This Way” you also get the LA Riots Remix, the Chew Fu Born To Fix Remix and the DJ White Remix. It is a pretty cool deal and from what I understand you can’t buy those other Remix versions as stand-alone tracks, you have to get them as part of this EP. So if you are a huge fan of Lady Gaga and “Born This Way” check this one out.

On the American Idol front we see the release of American Idol: 10th Anniversary – The Hits Volume 1. This album includes 10 tracks from 10 of the best known American Idol contestants spanning the first 10 seasons of the show. It includes tracks by past winners as well as those who have gone on to have careers despite (or maybe because of) not winning. The two biggest names here are Kelly Clarkson with her hit “Since U Been Gone” and Carrie Underwood with her smash hit “Before He Cheats.” Also included are Clay Aiken with “Invisible,” Ruben Studdard with “Superstar” and Adam Lambert with “Whataya Want From Me.” Also included are rockers Daughtry with “Home” and David Cook with his hit “Light On.”

For me the lineup is pretty good, but I wonder where Jennifer Hudson is? You would think American Idol would love to showcase that they have on Oscar Winner on their roster. Also missing is Kellie Pickler who has gone on to some notoriety and you might even think they would throw American Idol Season 1 runner up Justin Guarini a bone and include him. The album as it sits isn’t bad, but had the added another 4-5 tracks it could have been a lot better.
