American Idol 2011: Top 13 Recap
A recap of the American Idol Top 13 for the 2011 season.
America – you voted and now have your Top 10, wait scratch that, American Idol Top 13! For those contestants (24 in all) that didn’t make it in the Top 10 as voted by America, you were given a second chance to redeem yourself. The judges, Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson, and Steven Tyler picked 6 contestants from the 14 that weren’t picked by America, and asked them to sing their hearts out. After the 6 performed, the judges would than decide 3 out of those 6 that would move on to the next round.
The Top 10 were: Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, Pia Toscano, Karen Rodriguez, James Durbin, Jacob Lusk, Casey Abrams, Thia Megia, Paul McDonald, Haley Reinhart. These contestants were safe and got to view the remainder of the show from the coach, stage right. Who would round out the American Idol Top 13?
The judges picked 6 more contestants to get a place in the wild card slots. Only half of them would make it there. They were able to sing a song that has already been sung on Idol auditions so far. The judges picked:
Stefano Langone, who sang “I Need You Now,” Naima Adedapo who sang “There May Not Be A Tomorrow,” Ashthon Jones who sang “You’re Gonna Love Me,” Kendra Chantelle who sang “Georgia On My Mind,” Jovany Barreto who sang “Angel,” and Robbie Rosen who sang “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word.”
With their final chance possibly on the line, the 6 remaining wild card contestants were nervous. The judges made their pick for the American Idol Top 13 after they were given time to think about it while J.Lo’s world premier video was shown, “Dance On The Floor.” The judges picked Stefano, Naima, and Ashton to join the Top 10 already waiting on the couch.
Overall, I think the American Idol 2011 picks were right on the money. The Top 24 were a good bunch to start from. You all know I’ve told you to keep your eye on Casey and Paul. It will definitely be a good competition to the end.
