The Fighter Inspired Coach on Charlie Sheen
The Fighter inspired coach, Dicky Eklund, has some advice for Charlie Sheen.
Everyone has an opinion, right? Well the latest to give their take on the Charlie Sheen saga is Dicky Eklund. Eklund is the boxing trainer that inspired the role for the movie The Fighter. Christian Bale won an oscar for portaying Dicky Eklund in the movie so it only seems fitting he have some advice for Charlie Sheen.
Eklund has had his battles in the past. Drug addiction cost him his boxing career, and landed him in jail. Eklund told E! News recently, “I wish the best for Charlie and I genuinely hope he comes through this bigger and better than ever-he is a hugely talented man and, more importantly, a father that has children who need him. Keep fighting Quacka!”
Christian Bale, lost 30 pounds to play Dicky Eklund opposite Mark Wahlberg as his brother Mickey Ward in the movie. Bale won Best Supporting Actor and gave a nod to Dicky who was in the audience during his acceptance speech. He said, as he hoisted his award, “Hey mate, you’re the best. He’s had a wonderful story and I can’t wait to see the next chapter.”
Will there be a next chapter for Charlie Sheen? This guy is on a road no return and getting there quickly. Something, someone has got to stop the insanity. You have to feel sorry for the poor kids in all of this. Hopefully they aren’t around this craziness and can be protected from it as much as possible. Surprisingly, we haven’t heard from him in a couple of days. Could he be “recharging” for his next statement/interview? He did say he had Adonis DNA and tiger blood. There’s no stopping a machine like that!!
