American Idol 2011 Girls Night Review
RECAP – AMERICAN IDOL – MARCH 2, 2011 FOX NETWORK TOP 12 GIRLS NIGHT
So how did the American Idol 2011 girls do? Were they as great as the guys? The guys gave solid performances on Tuesday night. The pressure was on for the ladies last night. They too performed on the newly designed Idol stage. Given that there will only be five girls out of the twelve that will move on past this round (American Idol Finalists), they knew the margin of error was very small. Here’s my take on how it went down last night:
Best performers: Pia Toscano (I’ll Stand By You – the Pretenders), Thia Megia (Out Here On My Own – Irene Cara), Ashthon Jones (Love All Over Me – Monica), Lauren Turner (Seven Day Fool – Etta James), Karen Rodriguez (Hero – Mariah Carey), and Kendra Chantelle (Impossible – Christina Aguilera).
Middle of the road: Lauren Alaina (Turn On the Radio – Reba McEntire), Naima Adedapo (Summertime – George Gershwin), and Haley Reinhart (Fallin’ – Alicia Keys).
Not so good: Julie Zorrilla (Breakaway – Kelly Clarkson), Ta-Tynisa Wilson (Only Girl in the World – Rihanna), Rachel Zevita (Criminal – Fionna Apple).
So, do you think each one of the American Idol 2011 girls gave it their all? Did nerves play a role? The judges were all too complimentary, except for Randy. He seems to have taken over the honesty (not brutally) where Simon Cowell left off. And Steven Tyler, forget it. I love him, but when it comes to judging the girls, do we really know if he’s listening to them sing, or just looking them up and down! Tune in tonight for the elimination round and to see the 2011 American Idol Finalists.
