American Idol – Recap – Top 12 Guys
Recap of the American Idol 2011 Top 12 Guys performances.
This season, there is new everything on American Idol. New judges, new voting procedures, new locations. Well, kind of new. The Top 24 perform in the Kodak Theatre unlike previous years. The guys went first last night. I have to say, all were good, all showed talent, except for one. Jordan Dorsey did not bring his “A” game and it might just get him voted on. The results show for the performances last night, will be on Thursday. Tonight we can expect to see the American Idol Top 12 Girls perform.
Jordan Dorsey followed Jovany Barreto, who J. Lo absolutely loved, with Usher’s OMG. His version was awkward and ill-suited. Dorsey claimed that the song was “offered to me, and I went along with it.” What extent did the show push for him to sing that song? We’ll never know, but it was certainly the wrong choice.
Other contestants gave good, solid performances last night on American Idol. Of course, my favorite was Casey Abrams, with Paul McDonald coming in a close second. These guys have uniqueness to them. They really stand out from the crowd for several reasons. Close your eyes and their voices are enough to carry them entirely. Casey is just a lovable and self-proclaimed “sexy” kind of guy. McDonald does his own thing and is confident about it. McDonald performed “Maggie May” by Rod Steward and rocked it. His voice was simply amazing. As was Abrams audition. He sang “I Put A Spell On You” by Jay Hawkins. The guy can make anything sound good. I want to see him play more instruments. My money is on him and Paul McDonald so far. That’s not to say others don’t have the talent, but they stand out.
