Oscars 2011 Best Picture Predictions
Here’s our Oscars 2011 predictions for the 2011 Best Picture.
This is the second year where the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Academy Awards) aka Oscars 2011 has nominated ten different movies for Best Picture. With that many nominees they run the risk of having the category watered down, but this year the ten movies are all strong and any one of them is a threat to take home the trophy. Here are my Oscar 2011 predictions for the Best Picture category.
One of the Oscars 2011 Best Picture front runners has to be Black Swan. Black Swan’s star Natalie Portman has been red hot and all over the news. It just seems like right now it is her time in the spotlight and she is the current “It” girl that everyone in Hollywood is in love with. Just because she is hot right now doesn’t mean her movie will win. It has some strong competition. Many people’s Oscar predictions are that that The King’s Speech strengthened by Colin Firth’s nominated performance will take home the Oscar.
Other strong contenders for Best Picture are Inception, The Fighter and The Social Network. All of those movies feature great performance by their lead actors and cover some fascinating topics. Of these three I feel that The Social Network probably has the best chance of winning. It was a hit, it has nominated performances in it and it is very topical.
The remainder of the nominees includes The Kids Are All Right, 127 Hours, Toy Story 3, True Grit and Winter’s Bone. Winter’s Bone as a star making performance in it by Jennifer Lawrence. True Grit has a hot young talent in Hailee Steinfeld and The Kids Are All Right has some veteran actors flexing their muscles. James Franco, who is co-hosting the Oscars 2011 with Anne Hathaway, is great in 127 hours. He carries what is basically a one man show of a movie. For me the long shot is Toy Story 3. For years there have been complaints that animated movies and comedies never get nominated, but with the expanded number of nominees there is now room for them. I feel like this nomination is mostly a pat on the back for a job well done and a way to recognize them for what they accomplished over the years.
This Oscars 2011 Best Picture nominees are stacked and there are ten great movies here. Any one of them deserves to win. Odds makers Oscar Predictions have The Kings Speech as the favorite, but I will not be shocked if just about any of these movies take home the trophy.
