‘Inception’ Oscar Nominated For Best Picture
Inception is the masterpiece by Chris Nolan that is nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.
There are few writer/directors in the world that are hotter than Christopher Nolan is right now. His resume reads like a laundry list of huge, critically acclaimed and successful movies. His latest, Inception, has been nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture.
At once brilliant, if not confusing and mind twisting, Inception tells the story of Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) who has mastered the art of going into someone’s subconscious mind while they are dreaming and stealing valuable secrets from them. It is the ultimate in international industrial espionage. His skill at this has made him a very in demand person, but also a wanted criminal. Now he is being made an offer he can’t refuse. Instead of stealing an idea, he and his team must infiltrate the person’s subconscious and plant a thought. If he can pull it off he will be a free man, if not, a life in jail awaits him.
DiCaprio is in fine form and leads an all-star, top-notch Inception cast that includes Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy and Marion Cotillard. Inception is one of those movies you almost need to see twice to fully grasp what is going on. It is layered, complex and well done. It is very deserving of the Best Picture and accolades it has received.
Inception has been nominated for a total of eight Oscars. In addition to Best Picture it is also nominated for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Visual Effects and Best Screenplay.
I think it might be a long shot to win Best Picture in 2011, but I have a feeling it will clean up in the effects and sound categories.
