American Idol 2011: The Beatles, Vegas, Cirque du Soleil
Tonight the American Idol hopefuls will head to Las Vegas!
It’s Vegas baby! The remaining contestants that made it through Hollywood week will be performing in Las Vegas on American Idol tonight. In the next round of cuts, the contestants will have to perform a song by The Beatles, for the first time on American Idol, along with performances by Cirque du Soleil. There will only be 24 who will advance to the performance rounds next week. We will be seeing half of the contestants be cut this week. Will the country performers survive singing Beatles songs? Tonight poses as a challenge to them, especially Scotty McCreery. Will he survive past Vegas? We’ll soon see.
Speaking of Scotty, do you remember Scotty McIntyre from Season 8 American Idol? He was one of the more talented contestants to come from that season. He recently announced that he got engaged to Christina Teich and is set to marry her later this year. We’ll see the couple in their first public appearance after getting engaged at the Season 10 American Idol top 24 party that will be held on February 24 in Hollywood.
You’ll remember when Scotty wowed American in Season 8 with his vocal and piano skills. The visually impaired contestant finished in 8 position. He toured 50 cities with American Idols Live summer concert in 2009, and his most recent album, Heartstrings, was released in March 2010. It debuted at Number 18 on iTunes.
In other American Idol alumni news, David Archuleta was dropped from Jive Records last week. However Archuleta remains optimistic. I have a feeling loyal followers will not let him disappear this quickly.
