lebron jamesThe 2011 NBA All-Star game will air tonight on TNT and pits Kobe vs. Lebron as the West battles the East.

Sunday is a big day for sports fans. The day starts out with the Daytona 500 and ends with the NBA All-Star Game. Like Daytona, the NBA All-Star game is a full weekend affair. They celebrate the NBA with other events like a celebrity game, the rookie challenge, the three point shootout and the dunk competition. Most of these events take place on Saturday with the big event, the All-Star game itself on Sunday night. As far as betting odds go, the over/under on the game is 266 points.

As per normal, expect the 2011 NBA All-Star Game to be a shootout. There is never much defense here and there is always plenty of scoring.  Heading into the game there is plenty of talk about whether Carmelo Anthony will be traded. Whether it happens or not doesn’t change the fact that he is in the starting lineup for the West All-Stars. Joining him are Kobe Bryant, Crist Paul, Kevin Durant and Tim Duncan. The East starters are LeBron James, Amar’e Stoudemire, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard.

This year we have three guys who are making their first ever All-Star game. Blake Griffin, Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook are this year’s first time selections. They are all on the West team and join guys like Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki and Many Ginobili as the bench players. Interestingly enough Yao Ming also was voted onto the West team even though he is hurt and has only played in five games this season.

On the East squad the reserves are made up basically of Celtics and Hawks with Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett on the team. Al Horford, Joe Johnson and Chris Bosh round out the team.

The over/under on the game is 266 combined points. With the kind of firepower both of these teams have I will not be at all surprised to see the over get hit with ease.

How will the crowd react to LeBron James? The NBA All-Star Game airs at 8PM Sunday, February 20th on TNT.
