Daytona 500 2011: Dale Earnhardt, Brian Keselowski, Gatorade Duels
Sunday will mark NASCAR’s 2011 Daytona 500 in which Dale Earnhardt will be honored.
NASCAR fans are eagerly awaiting the 2011 Daytona 500 which will take place on Sunday. Tomorrow marks the 10th anniversary of Dale Earnhardt’s fatal crash at the Daytona International Speedway. There will be a special tribute to the racing legend on race day. As far as racing news goes, today NASCAR held the two Gatorade Duels as drivers fought for a spot in the season opening, Daytona 500. Kurt Busch won the first of the duels and Jeff Burton won the second, with underdog Brian Keselowski coming in 5th!
During this Sunday’s 2011 Daytona 500, NASCAR will ask fans to hold up three fingers on the third lap of the season opener. They will partake in a moment of silence in memory of Dale Earnhardt, who suffered a fatal crash 10 years ago. His son, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be racing in the big race and I expect to be extremely emotional for him.
Today fans got a taste of racing with the two Gatorade Duels that took place. Drivers fought hard to earn spots in the Daytona 500 and one big surprise is Brian Keselowski. The practically unknown driver teamed up with his brother, Brad Keselowski helped push his big brother into a 5th place win in the 2nd duel. Brian will now be racing in the Daytona 500! The winners of both duels were Kurth Busch and Jeff Burton.
