cee lo green grammy awardsQuick rundown of the nominees for the 2011 Grammy Awards record of the year.

The Grammy Awards are airing live tonight and everyone is wondering who will be the big winners.(Jay-Z, Eminem, Cee Lo Green, Lady Antbellum, B.O.B) Will it be one of those nights where one artist has a near sweep and wins an armload of trophies or will it be one of those nights where they spread the love around? I’m going to break down one of the biggest Grammy Awards 2011 categories of the night and give my prediction on how it will go.

Record of the Year is the second biggest Grammy prize you can win behind Album of the Year. This award celebrates the best song of the year. The nominees are B.o.B Featuring Bruno Mars for “Nothin’ on You,” Eminem Featuring Rihanna for “Love the Way You Lie,” Cee Lo Green for “Fuck You,” Jay-Z & Alicia Keys for “Empire State of Mind,” and Lady Antebellum for “Nee You Now.” It is a very interesting category that features three rappers, a pop song and a country song.

In my opinion it comes down to Cee Lo Green and Eminem. Lady Antebellum will win in the country categories, but probably not in this one. Jay-Z & Alicia Keys have a hot song, but I think if they are going to give it to a rapper it will go to Eminem. B.o.B and Bruno Mars also have a hit song, but I have to admit, I think B.o.B’s “Airplanes” Featuring Haley Williams is a better song and should have been nominated. Normally I would discount Cee Lo because of the name of his song. You would normally think that the Grammy Awards would never give an award to song called “Fuck You,” but I have this feeling they are trying to be a little edgier and giving him the award could prove they are hip.

For my money the guy to beat is Eminem. “Love the Way You Lie” is a brilliant song. It has just enough Rihanna to make it perfect and it is Eminem doing what he is doing best; telling the truth and turning the knife on himself. It is him explaining what a bad person he is and how he is powerless to change that. It is hard to deny the power of the song. If anyone but Eminem wins Record of the Year I will be shocked, but a little less shocked if it is Cee Lo Green. If it is someone other than those two, in my eyes it will be a huge upset win for whoever takes the trophy home.
