grammy awards 2011Who will be hosting the 2011 Grammy Awards?

The 53rd annual Grammy Awards (Grammy Awards 2011) will definitely be an event full of surprises. It hasn’t even been announced who will be hosting, although there was some speculation that the much-loved Betty White would be host. Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the live music event prior to the Award show, but as for now, there isn’t much more info on who will be hosting.

As for the Grammy Awards nominees, this year is going to be a major, really competitive event. Take the “Album of the Year” category, for instance. The nominees for this category are:

“The Suburbs” by Arcade Fire

“Recovery,” by Eminem

“Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum

“The Fame Monster” by Lady Gaga

“Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry

This seems like a particularly tough category, because there is such a mix of genres in the nominees. While Lady Gaga has dominated gossip headlines with her flamboyant attire and mad performances, “The Suburbs” has been praised by many indie-rock enthusiasts as one of the band’s best albums to date. And while Arcade Fire doesn’t get much lip service paid to their clothing or public stunts, they may very well take “Album of the Year” home, because they are a band that appeals to a lot of people. In all honesty, though, I would count on Lady Gaga taking the Grammy home. What are your thoughts?
