Contestants on Bravo’s hit show, “Top Chef DC” head to the Central Intelligence Agency this week to cook up some “Covert Cuisine.”

As with every other week of “Top Chef DC” we must first endure the Quickfire Challenge before we get on to the main course. This week we were joined by guest judge Wylie Dufresne. Wylie Dufrsne is a well-known chef in the culinary world and is recognized for his dabbles in molecular gastronomy. Of course, by his side was the lovely to look at host, Padma Lakshmi.

Enough with Wylie and Padma, let’s move forward with the Quickfire Challenge. Cheftestants were challenged tonight with a mystery box challenge. Chefs would have one hour to open their box and comprise a “Top Chef DC” worthy meal. The typical Top Chef twist on this challenge came about when Secret Service agents delivered several more mystery boxes throughout the hour timeframe. The chefs now had to think on their feet, as they had to incorporate every mystery ingredient into their final dish.

The Quickfire was underway and we quickly saw that front-runner Angelo was off his game. I don’t know what was going on with Angelo but he looked like he had no clue what and the hell he was doing. I honestly think that the departure of his arch-nemesis, Kenny Gilbert last week, has thrown him off his game.  Needless to say, Angelo was not victorious as Tiffany and her fish stew won the Quickfire Challenge along with $10,000.

Now that the dreaded Quickfire Challenge is over, we learn that the contestants are going undercover at the CIA. There challenge is to take a traditional dish and disguise it into a dish worthy of the title “Covert Cuisine.”

Let’s just say that the Elimination Challenge from last night’s Top Chef DC episode was the worst so far. Angelo continued to crumble, Alex continued to show his lack of culinary talent and Amanda made a stupid comment about being a spy and seducing KGB agents.

The Cheftestants then served their “Covert Cuisine” to Padma, Tom Colicchio, Wylie Dufresne and some big wigs from the CIA, including the director, Leon Panetta.

At judges table we learn that Tiffany was once again victorious with her disguised Gyro dish. For being the winner of the Elimination Challenge, Tiffany won a trip for 2 to Paris, courtesy of Hilton Hotels.

For me, the highlight of last’s night spy-spoof challenge was when Padma said those infamous words: “Alex, please pack your knives and go.” The pea-puree stealing, goofy-looking, hack of a chef is finally gone!

Tune in next week when Top Chef DC returns at 10/9c on Bravo.
