Charlie Sheen: Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak, War and Rehab
Charlie Sheen is pissed people care about his rehab more than what’s going down in Egypt with Hosni Mubarak.
Charlie Sheen is more worried about the goings on in Cairo, Egypt with Hosni Mubarak than in his own world and on his hit TV show. Or, at least, that seems to be the way it all reads based on a new text interview the star gave E! Online recently. In the interview Sheen covers several topics related to his current hiatus from the show as he seeks treatment for his drug and porn star based problems. When asked if there is any truth to the rumors that his father Martin Sheen is seeking a conservatorship (think Britney Spears’ dad who controls all over her money) Charlie responded that it was, “all crap.” He went on to say suggest we should believe nothing we read and that he will never speak about any of this as long as he is alive.
He went on to shame the media and said it was “pathetic” that they cared about his personal life. He then turned his attention to the goings on with Hosni Mubarak overseas by saying, “BTW, two wars are in an endless state of sorrow. Egypt about burned to the ground, and all you people care about is my bullshit?”
When told that people wished him well and just wanted to see him get healthy he did admit that he saw that and was grateful for the well wishes.
Since Charlie Sheen left the show to seek at-home rehab and drug counseling there has been a lot of speculation about what he would do, when he would come back and what the future of his hit show Two and a Half Men held. Currently the show is scheduled to shoot eight more episodes to finish off this season. They have two shows shot and ready to air over the next couple of weeks and Sheen has now said he plans to be back to work sometime at the end of the month. Prior to this announcement much of the cast and crew were stuck in limbo. They could have easily found themselves without a job, but not knowing when the show might start up again which could cause them to not be able to take another job while they waited. It was even suggested that Sheen pay for their salaries out of his pocket since he was to blame for this delay. There has been no word from Sheen or his camp about him doing any such thing if he ends up staying away from the show longer than expected. Warner Bros. Television has said that being out of work is “the nature of episodic television.” I would interpret that to say that if Sheen doesn’t come back on schedule don’t look for them to pay people while they wait.
While Sheen may be surprised that people are interested in his “bullshit” one thing is for sure. His issues directly affect real people. When you are the star of a hit show the entire show hinges on you. That means that everyone who works on the show depends on you. If Sheen’s “bullshit” causes the crew to be out of work for any significant time he might find himself returning to less than friendly surroundings.
But one thing seems to remain true. Sheen seems almost Teflon to all of this when it comes to his public image. No matter how bad his behavior the show seems to just get more and more popular so I have a feeling whether it is a few more weeks or a few months, Charlie Sheen will come out of this just fine.
