tre wilcox top chefTop Chef All-Stars aired a brand new episode last night on BRAVO.

Where do Goodfellas and Isaac Mizrahi collide? On this week’s episode of Top Chef All Stars. The show starts off with a fashion themed quickfire. Guest Isaac Mizrahi was in New York City for Fashion Week and in the Top Chef kitchen to help Padma Lakshmi judge dishes solely on aesthetics. Padma and Isaac decided on the winner just by looking at the chef’s plates. A lot of the chef-testants went way too abstract, Antonia Lofaso didn’t even make something that could be considered “a dish”, it was a tree made out of Yuca potato surrounded by lentils, nuts and seeds. Personally, I was a fan of Carla Hall’s plate but Richard Blaise walked away with immunity for his Black Chocolate Ice Cream.

The infamous and very exclusive Rao’s Restaurant, New York was at the center of the Elimination Challenge this week. Rao’s is 114 years old and the chefs have been asked to cook a traditional three course meal for Owner Frank Pellegrino, his son Junior, some other key Rao’s employees, the Top Chef judges and Lorraine Bracco (love her!). Three chefs are assigned to each course and are responsible for making a dish of their own within the course. Preparing the first course or antipasto is Carla, Antonia, and Tiffany, second course, primi, is Dale, Mike, and Tre, the third and final course, secondi by Angelo, Fabio and Richard. Being the Italians of the group, Antonia, Mike and Fabio know to lose this challenge would be nothing short of disgraceful.

Two of the three house Italians Antonia and Fabio made two of the judges favorite dishes, Antonia’s mussels won the challenge for her. When she returned to the Stew Room to announce her victory, she got a full 10 seconds of dead air and then some very reluctant claps and congratulations, I don’t think the others were impressed with her simple dish. The only Italian who was on the bottom was Mike Isabella for undercooking his fresh pasta. Dale’s pasta dish lacked flavor, and Tre’s risotto wasn’t cook correctly. In the end the self proclaimed “Black Italian”, Tre Wilcox was asked to pack his knives and go.

Eight chefs left, who will be next to be eliminated for the second time? You can see it all on Bravo, when Top Chef: All Stars airs Wednesdays at 10/9c or catch the recap here on Robot Celeb.

  1. I loved that he said he is described as the “Black Italian”. Sad to see him go, someone less attractive and charming should have been out (maybe Dale or Mike). I still think the most surprising part of the episode was that Antonia actually won, with muscles?! http://foodiegossip.blogspot.com/2011/02/top-chef-all-stars-episode-8-recap.html
