MTV’s Skins Porn; Proactiv Pulls Out

proactiv skins mtvProactiv pulls its commercials out of MTV’s new show Skins’ time slot.

A new advertiser has left MTV’s racy Skins due to the shows provocative and controversial nature. Skin care product line Proactiv didn’t care for MTV’s brand of skin, and so they are the latest in a line of advertisers to pull their commercial during the show’s slot.

“We have officially requested that MTV revise our traffic schedule so that Proactiv spots cease airing during Skins,” declared Kendra Elliot, the vice president of Proactiv.

Proactiv had been receiving complaints from perturbed viewers. Elliot added, “While our spots may air inside a particular program, it is not representative of our specific desire to support the programming and content of that particular show.”

Despite the angry attention Skins has received from TV patrol groups and angry parents, MTV has stood by the show, unperturbed. In response to criticism, Bryan Elsley (writer and co-creator of Skins) has said, “It isn’t us who are being provocative. I think that some of the people who object to the show are being provocative in the use of that word.”

Clearasil, another skincare brand, was advertised during the last episode of Skins…an episode in which one character said, “Piss on a piece of toilet paper and rub it on your face. It works better than Clearasil.” Clearasil has yet to comment.
