‘American Idol’ Auditions Preview: Kelly Clarkson and Super Bowl 2011
Tonight American Idol heads to the Texas for more 2011 auditions.
Tonight, American Idol returns, and this time the gang is headed out to Austin, Texas to look for fresh talent. The preview promises a mix of good and bad performers, with a strange woman clucking like a chicken before it fades to black. The great state of Texas is also hosting Super Bowl 2011; will they deliver the next Idol?
Texas is the home state of many American Idol stars, so it makes sense that the judges keep returning there to hold auditions. Remember Kelly Clarkson? She’s from Burleson, Texas. Nikki McKibbin, who came in 3rd place on Season 1, is from Grand Prairie, Texas. Other Texans who have placed in the top 10 include Casey James, Tim Urban, and Kimberly Caldwell.
So will tonight’s episode of Idol find the next big star? The preview clip has Jennifer Lopez sounding pretty enthused, saying, “I think you’re awesome. You might be one of the best people we’ve seen.” Tonight’s episode will also include drama, of course….several contestants seemed sorely disappointed, with one girl, clad in a green sweatshirt violently pushing the cameraman away, and another contestant saying, “Get the [profanity] out of my face.”
Well, we didn’t ask you to embarrass yourself on national television; you did that all on your own, buddy. Contestant meltdowns are a dime a dozen nowadays, but this sneak preview seems particularly spicy. Be sure to tune in to FOX tonight to catch the American Idol Austin, Texas auditions at 8|7c.
