ACM Nominees 2011: Entertainer of the Year Award
ACM 2011 nominations were just released and here is a look at Entertainer of the Year.
The coveted Entertainer of the Year category for the ACM (Academy of Country Music) awards is an interested category because the winners are determined by fan votes. Fans can start voting for this category along with Top New Artist beginning on March 11th and ending April 3rd. The nominees for Entertainer of the Year include Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, and Keith Urban.
So who will take home an award in this category? Fan voting for this category was only established 3 years ago, and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood dominated the past two years. This leads me to believe that Taylor Swift will take home this award; the two singers are often confused for their similar styles and Taylor Swift’s music appeals to a younger generation (when compared to the other nominees in this category).
Swift seems to be more of a pop star than a true country music star, but if fan votes are to determine the winner, she definitely has the backing to take home an award in this category. Toby Keith has won in the past, but do you know who Toby Keith is? If you do, props, but if you are like me, chances are you don’t. Taylor Swift probably deserves to win in this category because she is a widely recognizable entertainer and has made quite a name for herself (even if her style isn’t strictly country).
