NASCAR 2011: Patrick Dempsey Racing at Daytona
Patrick Dempsey took NASCAR fans by surprise when he finished 3rd at the Rolex 24 in Daytona.
Patrick Dempsey shocked NASCAR fans over the weekend when his Dempsey Racing team took third place in the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Best known for his role as McDreamy on the hit show Grey’s Anatomy, Dempsey has expressed his passion for racing. While the team started off pretty shaky and Dempsey was looked down upon by “real” NASCAR drivers, he is definitely maturing.
Dempsey Racing has come a long way and so has Patrick Dempsey. Dempsey has undergone training, low level races and a ton of commitment and sacrifice to get to where he is at now as far as racing is concerned. Juggling his acting career with his passion for racing has been the ultimate struggle but Dempsey has proved it could be done.
Dempsey Racing was leading the Grand Am Rolex 24 over the weekend until fellow teammate spun the car with 6 hours to go. The team recovered and finished in third place which is the best finish they have all seen. Patrick Dempsey was ecstatic and jokingly stated he was quitting Grey’s Anatomy and racing full time. It’s pretty funny that a guy who’s nickname is McDreamy has made it into the eyes of NASCAR fans and drivers. It goes to show that with hard work and dedication you can do anything you set your mind to.
Be sure to keep your eye out for Patrick Dempsey in the world of NASCAR as well as on the hit show Grey’s Anatomy.
