mtv skinsIs MTV’s new show “Skins” too racy for U.S. television? PTC says it’s Child Porn!

MTV may have to pull “Skins,” from the air. The new show (which debuted with a TV MA rating), has been disparaged in vehement terms by PTC, a television “watchdog” group. PTC has also contacted both the Department of Justice and the US Senate and House regarding the show’s controversial content.

In fact, Skins is being viewed by some as child porn. Some of the actors are only 15, and the show’s content involves drugs, sex, and foul language. The PTC has declared that Skins may be in violation of 4 federal statutes that deal with child exploitation.

Numerous companies have pulled their ads from the show, including H&R Block, who tried to deny any involvement in the show by claiming that their ad only ran once as a “mistake as part of rotation.” Deep breaths, H&R, I doubt anyone’s going to start associating your company with kiddie porn. But Taco Bell thinks the programming is too spicy too for their business as well, along with a host of other ad campaigns. It will definitely be interesting to see what ads step up to the plate to air during the risqué show’s time slot.

MTV big shots also had a meeting recently in which certain episodes of Skins were discussed. The raunchiest episode (intended to air on January 31st) involves a high school guy taking erectile dysfunction drugs and running naked down the street… or something.

Skins will definitely be getting a lot of attention with all the press the show has gotten. Teenage boys will tune in for sure…along with any member of PTC, looking to be offended.
