american idol premiereAmerican Idol Season 10 will premiere tonight on FOX.

Get prepared to hear some wailing and failing, Idol fans, because the premiere of American Idol Season 10 is set to launch tonight, January 19th at 8PM ET on FOX.  This season (Season 10) will be significantly different from AI Season 9, which saw record-low ratings which left executive producer Nigel Lythgoe far from happy.

So what can you expect from tonight’s premiere? New faces, places, and head cases galore! The first auditions take place in New York and New Jersey, and on Thursday auditions are set in New Orleans. Simon Cowell fans should know by now that the sarcastic Brit has chosen to move to the X factor and will no longer be reppin’ the show.

So who will fill the Cowell void?  Well long-time American Idol judge and dawg extraordinaire Randy Jackson doesn’t appear to be leaving anytime soon, and superstar singer Jennifer “JLo” Lopez and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler will be replacing Ellen and Kara (from last season). And of course, Ryan Seacrest remains American Idol’s golden boy, and host.

In other American Idol news, judge Steven Tyler has admitted that he had never seen the show before signing up to be a judge. Tyler explained his behaviour away by saying, “I’m always on tour.”
