Gwyneth Paltrow SNL 2011 Preview
Gwyneth Paltrow joins Cee-Lo Green tonight on Saturday Night Live.
Gwyneth Paltrow rides her wave of great press to Studio 8H, 30 Rockefeller Center tonight to host Saturday Night Live. There is a lot of anticipation for tonight’s show because Gwyneth has been tearing it up lately. First, she showed up on the CMA awards and performed a country song called “Country Strong” from her current movie of the same name. Then she appeared in a guest spot on Glee where she belted out a great version of Cee Lo Green’s smash hit “F**k You.” Of course on Glee it was cleaned up to be “Forget You” but she still showed off some soul.
It is that song that makes tonight’s SNL appearance interesting because Cee Lo is the musical guest. There have been reports that that Gwyneth and Cee Lo would be going into the studio to work on a collaboration of sorts and there are other rumors that they might show off some of that collaboration tonight on the show.
I will be honest. I have never been a big Gwyneth Paltrow fan. It isn’t that I didn’t like her; I just had no real opinion of her. I had a seen a few of her movies and thought that she was good in them, but I was mostly indifferent to her. While I think she did a good job on Glee it was her performance on the CMA’s that turned me into a fan. In a word that performance was ballstastic. It takes a hell of a lot of guts to get up on stage on live TV and sing a song period. That she is an actress singing a country song in front of a live country music audience that could easily have booed her off the stage took some serious guts. Let’s not forget this is the country music awards show that is so country they don’t give awards to Taylor Swift because she is too pop. If they think Taylor is too pop, what did they think of Gwyneth? But she faced her fear, got up there and did it and I changed my opinion of her.
Tonight she hosts Saturday Night Live. It should be fun to see her in the comedy sketches and to see if she does end up jumping on stage with Cee Lo.
