Glee Reality Show and Super Bowl 2011
Glee gets its own reality show “The Glee Project” and 2011 Super Bowl spot.
It looks like the “Glee” reality show is a go. Ryan Murphy, the creator and producer of the hit show Glee had previously announced that he and Fox were scrapping plans to start a Glee reality show so that Murphy could focus his efforts on the actual show. Apparently, that wasn’t the end of it. Shortly after that announcement it was announced that the show would go on, but that it would be on the Oxygen network and it would not have Murphy involved. Today Oxygen has announced that the show is happening and that both Ryan Murphy and Glee executive producer Dante Di Loreto will serve as executive producers on the show.
The show is going to be called The Glee Project and it will be a reality show that follows a group of hopefully actors/singers who compete for a role on the hit show Glee. Over 10 episodes we will meet the contestants and follow them as they audition, compete and train. Eventually, one lucky contestant will win a role on the show. There is no word yet as to if this will be a one-time guest role or an ongoing role. There is also no news yet as to how big this role will be. I think a lot of it will depend on how good the person does and how comfortable the show feels with giving them lines. If they are good the part could be fairly big and if the audience likes the, who knows what it could turn into.
The rumor is that Murphy finally relented and agreed to be a part of The Glee Project because he wanted to make sure that the show met and upheld Glee’s high standards. The Glee Project won’t start airing until June, but we won’t have to wait that long for more new Glee. The show returns from its holiday hiatus with a bang as it gets the coveted spot to air after the Super Bowl on February 6th. Later that week it also returns to its normal time slot with all new episodes.
