top chef dcTop Chef DC Season 7 Episode 7 takes on a “Power Lunch” and sabotage with the infamous pea puree.

I know the old saying goes, “the proof is in the pudding,” but last night it was all about the pea puree on Top Chef DC.

Before I get ahead of myself, let’s talk about what happens as the show begins.

As with every other week on Top Chef, the cheftestants, Padma and a guest judge for the Quick Fire challenge join us in the Top Chef kitchen. This week the Quick Fire challenge was all about Hors d’oeuvres. After the time limit was reached and Padma yelled “knives down, hands up,” Angelo came out as the winner of the Quick Fire, granting himself immunity and a prize of $20,000.

Next up, the elimination challenge and the events leading up to the pea puree debacle. This week the Cheftestants are challenged to create a “Power Lunch” for some of D.C.’s political powerhouses. From politicians to white house correspondents, the power and influence at this lunch table was immense.

This week our chefs will take over The Palm Restaurant in Washington D.C. The pressure is intense as the contestants struggle to prepare their meals back at the Top Chef kitchen. They will have a limited amount of time to finish at The Palm before they have to serve up the “Power Lunch.”

The day of service is upon us and we know learn that the proof is in the pea puree. Back at the Top Chef kitchen on the previous prep day, Ed had created a pea puree in which he was going to incorporate in his main dish. Come time to prepare his meal for service at The Palm, Ed can’t find his puree; it has gone missing!

Low and behold here comes Alex strutting across the kitchen with a bowl of, yep you guessed it, pea puree! Whether or not Alex stole Ed’s pea puree was all that was on the chefs minds.

Once service was finished, the lovely Padma called in Ed, Alex and Tiffany to the judges table. To much excitement, Alex won the elimination challenge and it was all because of the infamous pea puree!

Whether he stole the pea puree or not, Alex won the challenge and to him I say congratulations.

Kelly, Andrea and Kevin were all named as the bottom three for the “Power Lunch” challenge. In the end, Andrea was sent home for her swordfish dish.

Tune in next Wednesday to catch Top Chef D.C. on Bravo at 9 p.m. ET.
