Jim Harbaugh: History of Football Career
A history of the football career of Coach Jim Harbaugh.
Jim Harbaugh is being talked about all over the news recently as the Stanford head coach is looking for a new job. San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and the Denver Broncos have all expressed interest in hiring Harbaugh as their head coach. While the NFL teams battle to try and score him as their next head coach for the 2011 season, let’s take a quick look at just exactly who Jim Harbaugh is.
Jim Harbaugh was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1963. His football career began with the college team Michigan Wolverines. From there Harbaugh was selected by the Chicago Bears as the 26th pick in the first round of the 1987 NFL draft. Once he finished his time with the Bears he moved on to the Indianapolis Colts and then the Baltimore Ravens. The last team he would play for would be the San Diego Chargers (he would join the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers after them but did not play).
Once his NFL career was over, Harbaugh would move into the coaching position. His first role would be as the assistant coach of Western Kentucky. From there he moved up to the NFL as the Oakland Raiders Quarterback coach. For Jim Harbaugh, his first head coaching job would be with the University of San Diego. Harbaugh spent 2 years with them before he was offered the Stanford head coach position.
That brings us to the present and the ongoing negotiations of Coach Jim Harbaugh. What team will get him? Right now I believe it is between Denver Broncos and the San Francisco 49ers. Of course we can’t rule out that he would stay at Stanford due to the recent Andrew Luck decision.
