John Mayer Kicks Off Summer Tour With LeBron James Spoof
John Mayer kicks off his summer “Battle Studies” tour with a LeBron James video spoof.
Set to begin today, July 16th, 2010, John Mayer will hit the road on his highly anticipated North American summer “Battle Studies” tour.
In preparation for the kickoff of the “Battle Studies” tour, Mayer took to the web for a LeBron James spoof video. In this video we find John Mayer relaxing on a couch, dressed in the same attire as LeBron was in his recent ESPN coverage of “The Decision.” The spoof touches base on the news recently surrounding LeBron’s decision as a free agent.
LeBron James had a tough decision to make between playing for Cleveland, Miami or New York in the upcoming NBA season. Finally, LeBron decided to go and play for the Miami Heat. In Mayer’s web-made video he opens up with: “After giving it a lot of thought and careful consideration I have decided that I’m going to play for Cleveland. So as not to offend my fans in South Beach, I’d also like to announce that I’ll be playing for Miami. I’m also going to be playing for New York City.” Mayer continues to play on the LeBron James spoof as he names off the cities in which his tour will be covering.
John Mayer decided that a LeBron Spoof would generate a lot of buzz about his upcoming tour and he was correct. Since Mayer posted the spoof on youtube on July 9th 2010, it has generated 264,945 views.
Opening acts on the nationwide “Battle Studies” tour will include Train, Guster, The Avett Brothers and Owl City.
Mayer will kick off the tour tonight at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte, NC.
